FWCC welcomes Tudravu’s appointment and looks forward to discussing continuing challenges women face with Police

5 Feb, 2025

The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre congratulates Mr. Rusiate Tudravu on his appointment as the new Police Commissioner and looks forward to meeting him soon to discuss continuing challenges women face with Police.

We welcome Mr. Tudravu’s immediate priorities of improving services to the people and addressing serious issues within the Fiji Police Force.

Our hope is that the Police Commissioner will operate with the same open-door policy that has allowed the improvement in our working relationship in the past.

In his previous role as Acting Police Commissioner, Mr Tudravu did not shy away from asking for help from service providers like FWCC and always openly acknowledged that constructive criticism from service providers who act as “external auditors” of the Police will contribute to the improvement of services.

FWCC is focused on supporting the Fiji Police Force to develop best practice in responding to violence against women, girls and children in order to improve services and processes when responding to survivors.
