1101 domestic violence cases received last year

THE Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre last year received a total of 1101 cases of domestic violence from the period of January to December.

Of this cases, 573 cases were received at the FWCC in Suva, 269 in Nadi, 130 in Ba, 84 in Lautoka and 45 at the Rakiraki Women Crisis Centre.

“For us, people that we see at the crisis centre are survivors of domestic violence and the laws are better and people know about that law and it’s being implemented better,” FWCC coordinator Shamima Ali said.
