THE Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has called on communities to respect single mothers and their children and not take advantage of their situation.
FWCC co-ordinator Shamima Ali made the comment after revelations that a 11-year-old girl allegedly raped by three men in Labasa was raised by her mum after losing her dad a few years ago.
Police are investigating the case and three men have been charged with a count each of rape.
Ms Ali said the community played a vital role in protecting these families.
